30+ Years Serving Chicago

Chicago Roots,
Southern Soul

Church's Chicken on the South Side of Chicago began with a simple promise: serve honest food made with love. Our founder, James Church, grew up watching his grandmother fry chicken in a cast-iron skillet with a recipe passed down through generations — a blend of bold Southern spices, a crispy hand-battered crust, and the kind of care that can only come from family.

In the early 1990s, James opened a small carry-out window at 79th Street and never looked back. Word spread quickly through the neighborhood. Lines formed. Families returned. The secret wasn't just the recipe — it was the warmth behind the counter and the belief that every customer deserved a hot, satisfying meal they could feel good about.

Today, we continue that tradition every single day. Every piece of chicken is hand-battered fresh, every order is prepared to order, and every guest who walks through our doors is treated like family. That's not a marketing slogan — it's how we were raised.
